Gillard seeks advice over marriage quote

Former prime minister Julia Gillard is seeking legal advice over a quote used in an advertisement critical of same-sex marriage.

The Australian Marriage Forum ad quotes Ms Gillard's 2013 national apology for forced adoption speech, in which she said: "The most primal and sacred bond there is: the bond between a mother and her baby."

Ms Gillard said in a statement that the words of apology had been "taken out of context and misused", and she was taking legal advice.
