George Christensen slips into a Lycra bodysuit and dances to Beyonce all for road funding

Maverick Nationals MP George Christensen has made a threat that's, well, a little below the belt.

And he's warned Australia if he doesn’t get his way he will have no choice but to release an uncensored video of him dressed in tight Lycra dancing to Beyonce's hit song Single Ladies.

Don't say you weren't warned.

The MP, who made headlines in February this year after posting a now deleted photo of himself with a handgun appeared to threaten "greenie punks" is now making headlines for a whole new reason.

Mr Christensen has danced up a storm for a video in bid to win funding for a second stage of the Mackay Ring Road in his north Queensland electorate of Dawson.

In a video posted on his Facebook page, the MP wears Lycra and dances to Single Ladies.

He can be seen mimicking the moves of Beyonce in the clip, which is filmed from the waist up.

"I'm saying to government 'they've gotta put a ring on it' and I'm not ashamed to don Lycra to make it happen," he said.

Fortunately for viewers, the bottom half of the MP is "censored", however, Mr Christensen is threatening to release an uncensored version of the video if support is not forthcoming.

Queensland Labor senator Murray Watt said he was so committed to the ring road project he was determined to keep his clothes on.

"Last time I looked, the whole idea about being in politics was you actually want to win votes and I'm pretty convinced I win more votes by keeping my clothes rather than taking them off," Senator Watt told Sky News today.

"I reckon George is about to learn that lesson as well."
