Frostie the snow goat walks again

He is the little goat that could.

Frostie – the adorable baby goat who was getting around on a makeshift wheelchair after an infection rendered his back legs immobile – is back walking and jumping on all fours.

The eager little snow goat was nursed back to health by the team at Edgar's Mission, a not-for-profit sanctuary for rescued farm animals outside of Melbourne.

Edgar's Mission founder and director Pam Ahern told Today that when Frostie first joined them in May "he was in a very, very bad way".

"He couldn't walk and he couldn't even stand."

Frostie was suffering from joint ill disease - a painful infection he contracted through his umbilical cord.

In order to help Frostie get around, Ms Ahern borrowed a custom wheelchair which was originally made for another Edgar's Mission animal, Leon Trotsky – a pig whose back legs were crushed when his mother sat on him.

One month later, Frostie has improved so much; he was able to ditch the wheels.

Ms Ahern said that Frostie is now able to get around on his own.

"He still has a little way to go – some more physio and medications – and he may always have a little bit of a limp, but he is certainly on the way to recovery," she said.
