Adam Freeman held in custody before sentence

The son of late Sydney underworld figure George Freeman has been taken into custody before being sentenced for the manufacture of $3 million worth of ecstasy.

Adam Freeman pleaded guilty last September to his role in a drug manufacturing operation, two years after he was extradited from Thailand.

Freeman was due to be sentenced in the Downing Centre District Court today, but the matter has been adjourned until October.

The 31-year-old did not apply for bail.

"Bail is no longer applied for therefore ... it is refused," Judge Chris Hoy said.

Freeman was extradited from Thailand in August 2011 after a global arrest warrant was issued.

He had fled to Bangkok in December 2010, a day after two of his co-accused were arrested in NSW near a Tamworth property.

They were caught after officers noticed drugs and drug manufacturing equipment in their van during a random breath test.

Analysis of glass flasks in the van contained fingerprints including Freeman's, the court previously heard.

Farmer Gary Rennolds told the hearing he was promised $50,000 for letting three men use his shearing shed for about three weeks in late 2010.

Freeman's DNA was found on a cigarette butt at the shed.

He will be sentenced on October 27 for manufacturing a commercial quantity of ecstasy, worth an estimated $3 million.

Earlier this month, he was questioned and released without charge over a Bondi balcony fall that critically injured a man.
