Melbourne suburb's own version of Monopoly hits shelves

Melbourne's seaside suburb Frankston has its own version of the iconic board game Monopoly.

The town's most iconic institutions and landmarks will replace Mayfair and Park Lane from the original board along with a localised 'Community Chest' and 'Chance' playing cards.

The new edition will pay tribute to everything special about Frankston, including the local parks and beaches.

In recent years, Melbourne and Bendigo have featured in their own version of the iconic game.

Frankston City Council Mayor Nathan Conroy said he was proud to see the game hit shelves.

"I am so happy," he said.

"This has been years in the making and Winning Moves and Monopoly have worked with businesses and community organisations around the city.

"We are happy and coming together as a community. This is the fastest-selling pre-sale game in JB-HI-FI's history, which shows you the strength of Frankston."
