Girl dies after being hit by car in Melbourne

A four-year-old girl has died in hospital after being hit by a car in Melbourne's south-east.

The girl and her parents were crossing High Street in Prahran yesterday afternoon, when the accident occurred. 

She suffered head and chest injuries and was taken to the Royal Children's Hospital where she died just before 9pm. 

The driver, a man in his 60s, is helping police with their inquiries.
