UPDATE: Daughter of former premier formally refused bail over fatal Redfern stabbing

The daughter of former NSW premier Neville Wran has been formally refused bail on murder charges in court this morning.

Harriet Wran was one of three people charged over the stabbing death of a small-time drug dealer at a Redfern unit earlier this week.

Ms Wran arrived at Liverpool Local Court but didn't appear in the dock.

She didn't apply for bail and it was formally refused.

The 26-year-old attended Cabramatta police station yesterday afternoon. An unidentified 35-year-old man was arrested in Liverpool.

Both were charged with murder, attempted murder and aggravated break and enter.

Ms Wran has assembled a legal team led by senior counsel Winston Terracini, who is well-known in defense circles in Sydney.

On Tuesday police charged another man, Lloyd Edward Haines, over the alleged murder.

Police were called to the McKell housing commission block in Redfern on Sunday night where they found a seriously wounded 42-year-old man in the courtyard.

Inside the complex they found Daniel John McNulty, 48, who had already died from his wounds.

Mr Haines, 29, did not apply for bail when his matter was mentioned at Parramatta Local Court yesterday.

Bail was formally refused.

It comes after the 42-year-old victim, who is in hospital in a stable condition, allegedly told police that the attack had been carried out by three people in their 30s and 40s.

Following investigations, a red hatchback was located about 3pm yesterday.

Ms Wran, the God daughter of Kerry Packer, had a privileged upbringing, attending private school SCEGGS in Sydney.

She is believed to have gained a substantial share of her father's estimated fortune of over $40m.

Ms Wran's Facebook page says she now studies modern history at the University of Sydney.

The Sydney Morning Herald reported a close friend of the family said Ms Wran had been dating an architect in her early 20s but after the relationship ended, she had become involved with a bikie.

There was little movement at the Wran family's Woollahra home this evening, but brother Hugo departed the home in a car in the early evening.

Former long-serving premier Neville Wran died in April aged 87 after a long battle with dementia.
