Retired swimmer Michael Klim posts fake arrest photo online

The fun didn't stop at Flemington for former olympic swimmer Michael Klim, who posted a photo to Instagram last night of a police officer pretending to handcuff him.

Posted at about 10pm, the photo shows Klim with one hand on a Victoria Police van while a smiling officer holds his other wrist with a cuff against it.

Klim had spent Derby day mingling with wife Lindy in the Birdcage, even taking part in sabrage at the Mumm Champagne marquee.

While the snap is all in good fun, one comment left on the photo sharing website points out UK singer Lily Allen staged a similar photo in July and almost landed the officer in trouble.

Allen was visiting the Gold Coast to headline the Splendour in the Grass music festival when she posted a photo to Instagram of a uniformed Australian Federal Police officer handcuffing her at Gold Coast Airport.

The Smile singer shared the photo with 4.7 million Twitter followers before eventually removing it.

The AFP launched an investigation but later decided not to take any action against the officer.

Hopefully Victoria Police see the humour and things go swimmingly for the officer involved.
