Bug spray caused blast which blew out apartment windows
A can of bug spray being used has caused an explosion in a Sydney unit block strong enough to blow out the windows and injure a resident.
Fire and Rescue NSW in Parramatta said the insect aerosol being used next to an ignition source was to blame for last night's blast which wrecked the Harris Park apartment.
The branch said fire crews responded after reports of a gas smell and found a resident outside "dazed and with burns to the face and body" when they arrived.

There was no sign of a fire, but crews discovered there had been an explosion.
"In the apartment every single window had been blown out with some window frames being blown into next door's yard," the crew posted online.
"The residents assisted with the investigation and it was determined that insect spray was the cause of the explosion.

The fire crew warned people to read and follow the instructions on any spray cans.
"In this case the flammable spray was used in a very small space next to a ignition source," the post read.
"The spray collected in the kitchen and when it came into contact with the ignition source it went boom.
"The three residents inside were very fortunate to escape with only minor injuries.

"The apartment and it's contents will take a lot longer to fix."
