Flaming car tries to evade Qld police
A man has tried fleeing police in a stolen car on the Gold Coast despite flames shooting out from underneath the vehicle.
Police say the 19-year-old was behind the wheel of a stolen 2018 Ford Mondeo when it failed to stop at Biggera Waters at 2am today.
The burning car crashed into a fence a short distance later and the teenager was arrested, while a police officer was taken to hospital suffering smoke inhalation.
Police allege the vehicle was one of two stolen from a home about 1.45am after a man entered the house with a knife and made demands.
No one was hurt in the incident.
The man has been charged with multiple offences including burglary and commit indictable offence and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
A 17-year-old boy was allegedly located with the second stolen car, a black Mazda 3, at Southport.
He's been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and receiving tainted property.
