Five arrested as AFP seize $12 million in Melbourne drug bust

Five men have been charged and a Lamborghini and golden gun seized before more than $4 million in ice and heroin hit Melbourne's streets.

Four Australian men, aged between 32 and 33, have been charged with trafficking commercial quantities of crystal methamphetamine and heroin.

A fifth man, believed to be Vietnamese, was charged with proceeds of crime offences.

Australian Federal Police Commander Amanda Kates on Thursday said the Melbourne-based syndicate controlled or owned about $12 million in assets, including a silver 2018 Lamborghini Huracan sports car, as a result of their alleged offending.

Four properties, including a cannabis grow house, flashy cars, firearms including a golden gun, up to $250,000 in cash were seized.

Drugs including 4.175kg of ice and 2.5kg of heroin and encrypted phones are among the haul, the AFP said.

The drugs are believed to have come in from southeast Asia, Commander Kates told reporters on Thursday.

She said the western-suburbs based syndicate had been under investigation since May and had now been disrupted.

"The effect in the community of what these offenders are doing, was maximum. They have been doing it for a long time. To stop this syndicate in its tracks now is great for the community," Commander Kates said.

Two of the men were arrested at the Delahey property while the others were arrested in Brunswick, Footscray and Maribyrnong, Acting Superintendent Julian Bianco said.

Nine properties were raided between last Thursday to Monday.

Police raided properties in Aberfeldie, Delahey, Footscray, Maidstone, Maribyrnong, St Albans, Sunshine North, Truganina and Yarraville.

The assets are subject to Commonwealth restraining orders.

Commander Kates said international collaboration was paramount to breaking these syndicates, and investigations were ongoing with more arrests expected.

The men will appear in court in February.
