More than 50 firefighters have contained a large fire at a pub in Docklands which left two people with minor smoke inhalation.

Smoke was seen pouring from the Woolshed pub on Central Pier, after a fire broke out just before 3pm.

The fire is believed to have been mostly in the roof of the building.

Asbestos has been found in the roof structure and precautions have been put in place to minimise contamination.

Metropolitan Fire Brigade members are still working to bring the blaze under control, and smoke is still issuing from the building.

People are urged to steer clear of the area.

The MFB boat was dispatched to the scene, along with 15 fire trucks.

Witness Jade McCann said she could see large plumes of smoke coming from the roof.

"We were just sightseeing and saw the smoke straight away. There was smoke coming out of the ceiling, it was really full on," she said.

The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
