'Snap out of it' Greens tell Labor

The Greens have warned Labor to snap out of their hysteria on changes to how senators are elected and focus instead on winning the next election.

The insults and fiery exchanges continued in the Senate on Wednesday as debate resumed on controversial government legislation which threatens to prevent micro parties from winning upper house seats in parliament.

Greens senator Scott Ludlam said his party had faced "self-interested hysteria and outright weirdness" over its support for the changes in recent weeks and ordered Labor to snap out of it: "How about you have a go at winning the next election?".
