Acting community rallies behind Jessica Falkholt

Pia Miller and James Stewart have led the list of performers showing support for Jessica Falkholt, who is fighting for her life.

Falkholt and her sister Annabelle were injured in the horror Boxing Day crash which killed their parents and another man.

9NEWS understands the family of four was on the way home from a Christmas holiday, with police looking at the behaviour of the other driver who was killed. He was a man from Ulladulla aged 50.

The girls' uncle was told yesterday afternoon about what had happened. What remains of their family is now split between Liverpool and at St George hospitals, making sure neither sister is alone as they fight for their lives.

Falkholt was set to star in Channel Nine's new crime thriller Bite Club and her first feature film Harmony was due for release in 2018.

The accident has seen an outpouring of emotion on social media, with Jessica's acting colleagues sending messages of support.

Actor James Stewart wrote "please pray for Jessica and Annabelle," Pia Miller posted "thinking of you" and Jacqueline McKenzie paid tribute to the brilliant, kind and beautiful actress, calling it "utterly devestating news".

One of Falkholt's younger co-stars, Olivia Deeble, took to Instagram to ask her followers to pray for the actor's recovery. 

Channel Nine released a statement which described it as a shocking tragedy.

"Everyone at Nine is hoping and praying for their speedy recovery," the statement read. "Jessica is a talented young actress at the start of her career and we were excited to work with her."

Jessica graduated from Sydney's prominent drama school, the National Institute of Dramatic Arts, in 2015. The school's alumni page states that Jessica is "Swedish on her father’s side and Italian on her mother’s" and "was born and raised in Sydney".

"After graduating, Jess worked in the production department for Channel 7 and Carnival Films, whilst simultaneously building a resume for her work in front of the camera – featuring in many television commercials and appearing in guest roles for Australian television dramas," the profile reads.

Annabelle is a digital marketing assistant at Mesh Direct, an advertising and event-branding company. Her colleague, Andrew Doenicke, told 9NEWS she is a lovely woman.
