Labor MP Kate Ellis gives birth after going into labour at AFL match

Labor frontbencher Kate Ellis has given birth after going into labour at an AFL match in Adelaide on Friday night.
Ms Ellis and husband David Penberthy had to flee the Crows versus Cats match at the Adelaide Oval during the third quarter, the Adelaide Advertiser reported.
“Kate was extremely valiant but early in the third quarter we thought it was time to get out of here and go to an actual hospital,” Penberthy, a prominent journalist, told the Advertiser.
Ms Ellis gave birth to her second son, Charlie, at 6.20am yesterday.
“Nothing like going into labour surrounded by 50,000 of your fellow @Adelaide_FC friends & supporters. Welcome to the world Charlie!,” she tweeted, garnering more than 1000 likes.
The 4.07kg newborn joins brother Sam, aged two.
Ms Ellis announced her retirement from federal politics at the next election in March, stating that she wanted to spend more time with her family.
“I don’t want to be spending 20 weeks of the year in a different state to my child,” she said at the time.
