Melbourne family fears for elderly grandfather missing since Thursday

Fears are growing for an elderly man who vanished after walking near his Melbourne home on Thursday.

The family of 73-year-old Kashi Adhikari have searched all day and all night since he disappeared and are desperate to bring him back to his Melton home.

Neighbour Sharon Winter is believed to have been the last person to see him.

“I seen him the night he went missing, he just walking I thought it was normal,” Ms Winter told 9NEWS.

“It’s normal for him just to walk but he always comes back.”

Police say Mr Adhikari is not carrying any bank cards, cash or a mobile phone.

They are concerned as he is a diabetic and needs to take medication twice daily.

He does not suffer from dementia and police do not suspect foul play.

“There’s several creeks in the area but it’s such a broad flat open walking tracks area, footpaths, it’s so hard to say how far he would have gone,” Sergeant Matt Golding said.

Mr Adhikari is balding with grey hair, around 170cm tall with a medium build.

He usually wears loose white pants, a long sleeved white top and a hat.
