Father executed outside suburban home

A father-of-three has been executed in front of a home in suburban Melbourne.

The unnamed man was shot from point-blank range outside the Epping home after being ambushed by a group of men.

Neighbours told News Corp that the men had tried to break into the home in the hours leading up to the shooting.

"I saw a man holding a bat or plank of wood, screaming 'someone is going to die'," one said.

Detectives were also last night scouring vision from a security camera the owner had installed on his house.

It’s believed the cameras were added to the house about a month ago.
