An unprovoked brawl that erupted outside a pub has ended with a father celebrating his birthday being one-punched.

Horrific video, obtained by the Herald Sun, shows Kane Dulieu being repeatedly kicked and punch as he lay lifeless on the ground after he was hit outside a Melbourne bar on November 18.

The then 24-year-old’s friend tried to come of his  aid but was himself delivered a strike that knocked him to the ground.

The thugs can be seen in the video hovering around Mr Dulieu as they continue to attack him in Wantirna South.

Mr Dulieu was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with bruising to the brain and a broken jaw and cheekbone. His right eyebrow required 30 stitches.

He was placed in an induced coma but woke days later.

The now 25-year-old said he’s lucky to be alive and knows he could have died that night.

“I am one of the lucky ones,” he told the Herald Sun.

“This could have ended so differently and my son would have had to grow up without a dad. That’s what makes me angry.”

Mr Dulieu has thanked police, paramedics and hospital staff for their help with his recovery.

The four New Zealand nationals responsible for the brawl have plead guilty, the newspaper reports.
