Family violence on COAG table

Victoria's work on combating family violence will be a key topic at the next Council of Australian Governments meeting.

Premier Daniel Andrews says he will be giving a detailed report on the findings of the state's Royal Commission into family violence when COAG next meets.

The commission's report this week made 227 recommendations, some of which called for potential solutions to fight family and domestic violence to be taken up nationally.

"I'm very pleased that my colleagues have agreed that at our next meeting I'll bring a more detailed report on the Royal Commission into Family Violence," Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews said after Friday's COAG meeting in Canberra.

Mr Andrews said though this COAG meeting had been productive, he would not allow the issue to "be glossed over".

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk also said more had to be done.

"Women are still getting murdered and killed behind closed doors in all different sections of our community," she said.
