Family First calls for freeze on MP pay

The Family First party says South Australia's MPs should impose a pay freeze on themselves for the next four years.
The party's upper house MP Dennis Hood says the state's budget position is so dire the freeze is the least the state's 69 members of parliament can do.
"You've got Holden workers losing their jobs in 2017 and rising unemployment in South Australia," Mr Hood said on Friday, the day before South Australia goes to the polls.

"Parliament has to be accountable too."
He said future pay rises for MPs should also be based on meeting key performance indicators, such as returning the budget to surplus.
Family First estimates a pay freeze would save about $1 million.
