Man in hospital after fall at Hanging Rock

A man in his 20s is in hospital after falling from Hanging Rock in Victoria.

Emergency services were called to the popular tourist destination about 1pm after reports two people had been injured.

A man and a woman were winched from the area, Ambulance Victoria told 9NEWS.

The man was flown to the Royal Melbourne Hospital and is in a serious condition with a suspected head injury.

His condition has since improved to stable.

The woman was assessed by paramedics at the scene, and did not require further attention.

Hanging Rock is considered the Macedon Ranges’ most famous landmark.

It gained a place in popular culture through Joan Linsey’s book of the same name, further cemented Peter Weir’s film adaptation.
