Police issue warning over fake $100 notes circulating in Northern Territory
If you're one of the few Aussies still paying with cash in 2022, you might want to double check what's in your wallet after a new announcement from police.
People in the the Northern Territory – specifically in the Darwin, Casuarina and Palmerston areas – have been told to be on the lookout for dodgy $100 notes, spotted by a flock of ripped off shoppers.

The fake notes can be identified by one major flaw, police say. NT Police
Although the notes bear an uncanny resemblance to true Australian banknotes, they are missing one critical feature – a dead giveaway.

"Please pay close attention to any note you receive," NT Police said in a statement.
"The current batch can be identified by the lack of clear window in the bottom corner and the paper texture when you touch them."

Authorities have warned any person who comes across the notes to immediately notify police, or contact 131 444 if they may have witnessed anyone attempting to pass these notes off as legal tender.
