Hot air balloon found wrapped around lighting tower in Melbourne
It was an unusual start to the new year for emergency services, as they were called to a sporting field following a triple zero call in Melbourne's inner suburbs.
Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) crews arrived at Fairfield Park in Fairfield just after 7.30am to find a hot air balloon, without a basket, tangled around a lighting tower about 30 metres high.
Specialist crews were called to the scene to help cut the balloon free so it could be lowered to the ground.

Firefighters contacted council to access the sport pavilion and isolate power to the light.
A FRV spokesperson said no one was injured and confirmed nobody was in the balloon.
It's not known how it got there.
