'Two times he tried to shoot me': Ute stolen from driver at gunpoint

A man has been left shaken after his ute was stolen at gunpoint in Sydney’s west.

The 23-year-old told police he stopped at the intersection of Hedges and Loscoe streets in Fairfield at 8.45pm last night.

A man approached the vehicle and threatened him, directing him to get out of his ute.

He did, and the alleged offender drove off down The Horsley Drive.

The driver was left shaken from the ordeal, but unharmed.

“I have lived here for about two years, and nothing like this has happened before…I was very scared,” the driver told 9NEWS.

“He asked for my phone, and tried to take my phone, two times he tried to shoot me,” he said.

The driver says the offender quickly drove away when another car approached the scene.

Police are searching for a man described as being between 25 and 30-years-old, thin, and about 170cm tall.

At the time of the alleged offence he was wearing a balaclava and was armed with a dark coloured handgun.

The stolen ute has a registration of CO-37-WZ and is a blue 2016 model Toyota Hilux.
