Multiple social media and messaging apps crash worldwide

Three major social media and messaging apps – WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook – are experiencing worldwide outages, with thousands of people reporting problems.

Users said they are unable to send or receive messages, download photos or load the applications.

Hundreds of users have reported their issues, taking to Twitter, which is working, to air their frustrations.

"Tried to download pics on WhatApp but guess what? It's crashed," tweeted one user.

"I can't seem to load anything, went to see if this was a problem then realized it's happening everywhere!" tweeted another.

The cause of the crash is unknown.
