Facebook users hit by major malfunction on feed
Facebook appears to have recovered from a major glitch affecting the social media giant.
For a few hours on Wednesday afternoon, many users' feeds were inundated with posts to pages they follow made by complete strangers.
The issue appeared to have been resolved for the vast majority of users by about 7pm (AEST).

Users first began reporting problems with Facebook about 4pm.
Internet outage tracker Downdetector received more than 1400 reports of Facebook problems, the vast majority of which related to the feed.
Users around the world made the most of the malfunction, some people posting memes making light of the situation, while others used the glitch to try to gain exposure for their YouTube or other social media channels.
Others used the incident as a fundraising opportunity – one user reported seeing someone sharing their Paypal details to receive donations for their sick cat.
Just after 5pm, some users began reporting their feed appeared to be slowly returning to normal, with the occasional post coming from pages, groups or people they follow.
Downdetector's data showed the number of Australian Facebook users who reported the bug peaked at 1436 just before 5pm.

After that, the site recorded a decrease in reported problems.
Facebook has been contacted for a comment on the situation. The social media giant has so far not issued a statement in the incident.
