Climate protesters block major Melbourne road in third day of disruptions
Climate protesters have blocked a major thoroughfare during peak hour traffic in Melbourne this morning.
Extinction Rebellion members gathered on the Montague Street off-ramp of the West Gate Freeway as part of their third day of demonstrations.
At least 10 penalty infringement notices were issued for obstructing traffic after police began removing the protesters from the road just after 8am.

More than a dozen protesters were seen holding banners reading "climate code red" and "we need disruption to end the disruption".
"We are about disruption," one protester told Today.
"We are about waking people up to what is happening in our society.
"We have to do this in order to shake the community and government to stop digging up coal and mining. What's happening now is criminal."

About 30 protesters marched along the road at Exhibition Street yesterday, once again disturbing peak hour traffic.
It comes amid a week of protests planned by the group, with more expected tomorrow.
