Emergency Management Commissioner Andrew Crisp retracts hotel quarantine evidence he told inquiry

Emergency Management Commissioner Andrew Crisp has retracted evidence he gave at the parliamentary inquiry into the Victorian government's handling of the coronavirus pandemic.

Mr Crisp told the inquiry he briefed Emergency Services Minister Lisa Neville on March 27 and 28 three times about plans being made for hotel quarantine.

However, this morning he sent a letter to the Public Accounts and Estimates Committee to change his testimony, as he did not brief Ms Neville on those dates.

"I wish to correct this in acknowledgment that I did not brief the Minister for Police and Emergency Services throughout the 27 and 28 March 2020 with regard to what was being planned," the letter stated.

"I kindly request that the Committee publish this statement alongside the original transcript."

Premier Daniel Andrews today said he has "nothing but good things to say about Andrew Crisp" despite the retraction.

"He's made a statement under his signature on his letterhead. He's a statutory officer," Mr Andrews said.

"Victorians know and trust him. So do I."

A final report will be handed down with findings into the state's botched hotel quarantine scheme on November 6, following the conclusion of a judicial inquiry.
