Eleven Queensland Police officers in self-isolation after hotel quarantine incident

Eleven Queensland Police officers have been forced into self-isolation following an incident involving a man who tested positive to coronavirus at a Brisbane quarantine hotel.

9News understands the officers interacted with the man when he suffered a psychotic episode and tried to leave his room at the Rydges Hotel on Sunday.

"The 11 officers, who came into contact with the 41-year-old-man in hotel quarantine in South Brisbane, were wearing personal protective equipment in accordance with infection control measures.," a Queensland Police Service spokesperson said.

"The 11 officers remain in isolation and as of today, all have returned negative tests."

Queensland police says its conducting welfare checks on the officers each day as they continue to quarantine.
