Election is within our grasp: Shorten

Opinion polls may be against him, but Opposition Leader Bill Shorten remains upbeat with polling day just a week away.

Mr Shorten met with local supporters in Queensland on Saturday to rapturous cheering and applause in a Townsville park.

"It's within our grasp," he told red-shirted supporters, brandishing green and gold placards saying 'save Medicare - vote Labor'.
