Elderly Qld man charged with murder

An elderly man has been charged with the stabbing murder of his partner on the Gold Coast.
Police were called to a home at Southport about 8am (AEST) on Friday.
Inside they found the body of a 69-year-old woman with multiple stab wounds and a man with serious injuries, including a neck wound.

Detectives charged a Southport man, 72, with murder on Saturday morning.
An initial hearing will be held in the Southport Magistrates Court on Saturday, although the man won't appear.
He remains in the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
