An elderly man was rescued from flood waters in Waterford, Logan. (AAP) 

Police have come to the aid of an elderly man on his walker in ankle-deep flood waters at a a park near the Logan River.

Images showed the man being guided through the murky water by two officers and bystanders at Tygum Park, Waterford, yesterday afternoon.

About twenty people who had come to inspect the floods watched on.

The Logan River in Queensland is also expected to peak at 10.5m at Waterford West this afternoon, in what the mayor said will be the biggest flood in more than 40 years.

"That's higher than we saw in 2013 and 2011 and it's getting very very close to that 1974 mark," Mayor Luke Smith told ABC radio, adding more than 320 properties are at risk of being inundated.
