Elderly man drowns after pulling boat from water
An elderly man has died after drowning in water near a boat ramp at Cottage Point in Sydney’s north this morning.
At 10am, emergency services were called to a house on Cowan Drive after reports a man, 71, was in the water and unconscious.
The man was pulled from the water but despite the efforts of emergency crews at the scene, he was unable to be revived.
NSW Police say initial inquiries suggest the man was trying to pull his boat from the water.
Earlier reports suggested the man was pulled unconscious from a pool after having a medical episode.
“He was found in a body of water at a boat ramp,” a NSW Police spokeswoman said.
“It’s sad really.”
There do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances relating to his death.
