Parramatta Eels winger Maiko Sivo has been banned from leaving Fiji after he allegedly grabbed a female resort worker around the stomach while blind drunk.

The 26-year-old NRL star appeared in Nadi Magistrates Court on Monday, where he is facing one count of indecent assault.

The charge stems from an alleged incident at the Wyndham Resort, on Denarau Island near Nadi, on Saturday night, prosecutor Parmesh Chand told AAP.

Sivo was placed under a stop departure order and instructed to hand his passport to the court before being granted bail.

Mr Chand says Sivo was arrested after he allegedly grabbed the woman at the resort while drunk.

"It was around the stomach," Mr Chand said, referring to where Sivo allegedly touched the woman.

"He was under the influence of alcohol, he was totally ... he consumed a lot of alcohol."

Mr Chand said Sivo allegedly told police "he could not recall anything because he was drunk".

Sivo was arrested on Sunday after the woman made a complaint to the resort's managers and police were called.

His club on the weekend said he faced a lesser charge of indecent annoyance.

Sivo will reappear in the same court on January 7.
