Man charged with drink driving after three-car crash on NSW highway

A driver has been charged after he allegedly blew a blood alcohol reading of 0.106 following a serious three-car crash in the New South Wales Central West.

Emergency services rushed to the Mitchell Highway, about 22 kilometres west of Dubbo, after the crash at 6pm on Friday.

Paramedics treated a 77-year-old man who was behind the wheel of a Mitsubishi Triton and a 30-year-old woman in a Subaru Tribeca.

The woman remains in Dubbo Base Hospital in a stable condition while the man was flown to Westmead Hospital in Sydney in a serious but stable condition.

The driver of a Toyota Landcruiser, a 33-year-old man, was uninjured.

He was subjected to a roadside breath test allegedly returning a positive result.

He was arrested and taken to Narromine Police Station for secondary breath analysis, which returned an alleged reading of 0.106.

The man was charged with drive with middle range PCA, and his licence was suspended.

He was given conditional bail to appear at Dubbo Local Court on Wednesday, September 25.

The crash was one of a spate of road incidents attended by emergency services across New South Wales on Friday.
