A drunk mother allegedly caught riding her horse to the bottle shop in search of more wine while four times the legal alcohol limit has broken her silence.

Speaking exclusively with 9NEWS, Charmaine Maguire said she doesn’t think she did anything wrong, after being arrested at a Queensland liquor store's drive-thru.

“I do the right thing,” she said.

“I don’t have a car because I drink.

“Just trying to enjoy my horse thinking that I wasn’t doing any harm to anybody and I wasn’t putting anyone in danger so I was pretty upset that they (the police) hassled me.”

Police bodycam recorded the confrontation in Logan on Monday night, with officers telling the mum to get “off the horse”.

“It’s the same as driving a car, you can’t ride a horse over the legal limit,” one officer can be heard saying.

Police allege Ms Maguire recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.226, more than four times the legal limit.

Ms Maguire said she usually gets around on her horse Skippy despite drinking a “couple of bottles of wine” each day.

Acting Senior Sergeant Damien Honsig-Erlenburg said drink driving laws applied to a range of situations, including while riding animals.

“If it’s got wheels and it can transport you then it can be deemed as a vehicle.”

Ms Maguire was charged with being in charge of a horse while under the influence of liquor and is due to face the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on June 26.

“If it’s the law, which I’m not sure of, I won’t be able to do anything about it, I’ll just have to suck it up,” Ms Maguire said.
