Drunk commuter falls off train platform

Queensland Rail has released a video reel of some of 2017's best drunken commuter spills, as a warning to New Year's revellers.

The video shows one intoxicated individual walking across a platform and towards the edge, toppling onto the tracks.

In another shot another man tries – and fails – to hop a fare gate, only to fall backward onto his head.<

The would-be fare evader can then be seen gathering up his injured pride and walking away.

In a third shot, a man wearing thongs races across a rail catwalk, falling face-first onto the cement and spilling what appears to be a carton of milk.

He then picks himself and rushes down a set of stairs, only to slip again, this time onto his backside.

The video was released as a warning in advance of New Year's celebrations.

Queensland Rail has appealed for revellers to exercise extra care over the festive season, lest they risk endangering their lives or the lives of those around them.

More than 600 commuters slipped, tripped or fell while using the rail network last financial year.

“While these incidents can seem humorous, this vision is a stark reminder of how easily alcohol can affect you, causing you to act in ways you usually wouldn’t or lose your footing,” Queensland Rail Chief Executive Officer Nick Easy said.

“In an active train station environment you’re multiplying your risk of serious injury.”
