Two Canadians charged over alleged meth importation into Australia
Two Canadians have been charged with allegedly importing about 16 kilograms of ice into Australia by hiding the drug inside their luggage.
The 27-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman arrived at Melbourne Airport from Vancouver on Saturday.
They were arrested after an x-ray by Australian Border Force officers discovered bags of white crystalline material in the lining of four items of luggage.

Testing of the white material returned a positive result for methamphetamine.
ABF officers allegedly found four one-kilogram packages of the drug inside each of the four luggage items. The total quantity of the imported drug is estimated to be 16 kilograms.
The Australian Federal Police charged the pair with one count of import of a border-controlled drug in commercial quantity and two counts of possessing a border-controlled drug in a commercial quantity.

The man and woman have been remanded in custody. They are scheduled to appear in Victoria Magistrate's Court on Friday.
The maximum penalty for the offences is life imprisonment.
