Drug driver who hit media personality Glenn Wheeler avoids jail over collision

A 60-year-old woman who crashed into Sydney television and radio presenter Glenn Wheeler has escaped jail over the incident.
Deborah Anne Levy pleaded guilty in October last year for driving under the influence and negligent driving causing grievous bodily harm.
Levy was today handed a seven-month suspended sentence, a two-year good behaviour bond and has been disqualified from driving for three years.
Wheeler was riding his scooter home in Woolooware in January last year when he was hit by Levy, who had been smoking cannabis before the crash.
She was arrested after her Mitsubishi Star Wagon cut a corner and collided with Wheeler’s scooter at the corner of Woolooware Road and Caronia Avenue in Woolooware.
The crash placed Wheeler, 55, in an induced coma.
He suffered serious head injuries, leaving him with brain damage and severed artery in one leg.
