Drone hope dashed in search for missing campers Russell Hill and Carol Clay
A drone found in the search zone for Russell Hill and Carol Clay over the long weekend did not belong to Mr Hill, police confirmed today.
The missing campers, aged 73 and 74, vanished in the Victorian Alps almost a year ago.
Today investigators confirmed a drone handed in to police was not the missing DJI Mavic one belonging to Mr Hill.

The pair has not been heard from since March 20 last year, when Mr Hill stated via HF radio he was at Wonnangatta Valley.
The discovery of the drone comes after police revealed days earlier they were searching for an unknown white dual-cab ute, which was parked near the campsite.
"We understand that this vehicle was parked near the long drop toilet, or the public toilet and a small suspension bridge over the one again a river, which is, is within fairly close proximity to where we know that Russell and Carol camped," Detective Inspector Andrew Stamper said.

Mr Hill left his Drouin home on March 19 and picked up Ms Clay from her home in Pakenham in his white Toyota LandCruiser.
Ms Clay told friends she was going away and was expected to return home on March 28 or 29.
But instead, their campsite was found burnt out, with their mobile phones gone.
Investigators believe the pair may have been met with foul play.
Detectives continue to scour through bushland in a bid to solve the case.
