Driver with leg in cast in car crash

A man allegedly driving while more than four times over the legal alcohol limit with a broken leg, has been charged after his car crashed into a house in Bunbury.

The 42-year-old was charged with driving under the influence after the Toyota Lexcen he was driving crashed into a house in Ann Way, South Bunbury, just before 3pm (WST) on Sunday afternoon.

WA Police will allege when tested after the impact with the house, the man recorded a blood alcohol level in excess of 0.2.

It will also be alleged he had a cast on his right leg below the knee.

A police spokesman said the cast and bandaging became tangled in the vehicle's pedals and it is believed this caused him to crash into the letterbox and front of the house.

The man, from the Perth suburb Rivervale, was immediately disqualified from driving, and will appear in Bunbury Magistrates Court on the February 5.
