Driver on Victorian road has no time to avoid crash

Driving along a pitch black road in rural Victoria, the car coming in the opposite direction in a glare of white headlights looks like it’s on the right side of the road – until it isn’t.

Alarming dashcam video shows how little time the driver had to react before a car slammed head-on into him on the Western Highway near Ledcourt.

In the split second before the crash, the driver with the dashcam suddenly realises the car is coming uncomfortably close.

He begins to veer slightly to the left, but it’s not until the last instant that he realises the car is fully in his lane.

“Oh f—k,” is all the driver has a chance to utter before to vehicles collide in a sickening crunch of metal.

The footage, which appears to have been filmed in June, was uploaded to video-sharing website Vimeo last week by user John Asson.

In the video description Mr Asson writes the driver of the other car managed to escape with a few torn muscles and bruising.
