Driver lucky to escape as huge fireball engulfs truck on Queensland motorway

A truckie has managed to escape unharmed as his truck was engulfed by flames on the Logan Motorway near Heathwood this morning.

Footage captured by 9NEWS shows the vehicle well alight before a loud explosion rips through the cabin, blowing out the truck’s front tyres and gutting the vehicle.

Emergency crews were called to the scene on the Logan Motorway eastbound, shortly before 11.30am.

Paramedics assessed the driver on site.

He was taken to Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Hospital in a stable condition.

The truck has been cleared from the road and traffic delays are easing.
