Two people have had a lucky escape after a car came crashing through the walls of their Melbourne home around 3 this morning.

The red Barina was travelling down a suburban street in Point Cook, in Melbourne's west, when it lost control and hit a tree.

The car then became airborne, slamming into the lounge room of the two-storey property.
