Driver flees after smashing into elderly woman’s home

A 92-year-old woman has woken to the sound of an out-of-control car crashing into her Sydney home.

The woman was sleeping when she was woken by the crash at Punchbowl just before 2.30am today.

The front of her house was extensively damaged in the crash, but the woman was not injured.

The man at the wheel of the Holden Commodore fled the scene before police arrived. 

He was wearing a black jumper and cap when he was seen running north along Arthur Street.

Police are investigating.
