Driver charged after motorcyclist killed in Sydney's west

A driver has been charged after a motorcyclist was killed in a crash in Sydney's west.

A ute and a motorcycle collided on Olympic Drive near Childs Street in Lidcombe about 7pm yesterday, according to police.

The motorcycle rider, who is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be aged 49, was given CPR at the roadside but could not be revived.

Police were called to the crash about 7pm. Queensland Police

The driver of the ute, a 23-year-old man, was taken to Auburn Hospital for mandatory testing.

He was then taken to Auburn Police Station and charged with negligent driving occasioning death.

Police refused the man bail.

He is due to appear before Burwood Local Court today.
