Driver attacks motorcyclist after he hits car bonnet

Dashcam video has revealed a fierce road rage encounter, allegedly sparked after a driver appeared to cut off a motorcyclist.

The video, posted to the Dash Cam Owners Australia Facebook page yesterday, allegedly took place after the Nissan X-Trail in the video "nearly hit one of (two) bikes" in Berowra, North Sydney.

The video has since been viewed more than 240,000.

It shows a motorcyclist change into the right-hand lane in front of the X-Trail, only for the car to then swerve towards the left lane, in an apparent attempt to stop a second motorcyclist merging.

The first motorcyclist almost swipes the back of the X-Trail in retaliation, before pulling up alongside the car at a set of lights and hitting the bonnet with his fist, shouting at the driver.

A silver-haired driver emerges from the car, seizing the motorcyclist and wrestling with him.

It's at this point a second motorist intervenes, shouting "hey" to get the driver's attention, stepping in to separate the pair.

The second motorcyclist thanks the man, reaching out to shake his hand.

A screenshot of another post by Tina Shiz – a woman who claimed to be the female motorcyclist – has since been shared in the comments thread of video.

In it, Ms Shiz claims the incident was preceded by an attempt by the driver to knock the first motorcyclist – her husband – off his bike.

"An old guy first cut in front of me, no indicator then deliberately tried to knock me off my bike at the lights, as he didn't like that I had lane split and gone in front of him," the post reads.
