Drink bottle pulled from Kmart shelves over projectile fears

A drink bottle sold at Kmart has been pulled from shelves over injury fears.

The Anko two-litre stainless steel drink bottle was a ubiquitous sight on the shelves at Kmart and Target.

But both the kakhi- and black-coloured versions of the bottle have now been recalled.

There are fears that when exposed to hot liquids, the lid threading could shrink, which could see the lid to pop off as a projectile.

This could also lead to burns if the hot liquid contained within is spilled, Product Safety Australia warned.

The watchdog noted in its recall notice that "incidents have occurred", though it did not say whether any had so far led to injury.

Customers are advised to not use the bottle to contain hot liquids and to return it to the place of purchase for a refund.
