Driver critical after car plunges over Adelaide bridge onto freeway below

Traffic has been diverted on the Southern Expressway following a serious single-vehicle crash. (9NEWS) 9NEWS
A man is in a critical condition after the car he was travelling in reportedly plunged off a bridge and onto the Southern Expressway, south of Adelaide.
The highway is closed to all traffic between Sherriffs Road and Beach Road with traffic diversions in place.

The man was taken to Flinders Hospital in a critical condition. Police and firefighters remain on scene.
A spokesman for the fire brigade said a couple of crews attended the incident after receiving a call at about 3pm (ACDT).
