Disgraced former Bundaberg surgeon Jayant Patel has been permanently banned from practising medicine in Australia.
The Medical Board of Australia applied to have him banned after he failed to tell health authorities in 2003 that he had previously been sanctioned in Oregon in the US for unprofessional conduct.

"Dr Jayant Mukundray Patel must never be registered as a registered health practitioner in the medical health profession," Judge Alexander Horneman-Wren told the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal in handing down his decisions today.
